Critical thinking
Izvoare, Romania
We strongly believe that improved critical thinking competences of youth may help them to find a job, start studying or pick up where some of them left off, choose acquiring a specific profession or start freelancing or even their own business.
Thus our organisation supported 40 young participants from Romania, Latvia, Czechia, Bulgaria and Macedonia to gather in a non-formal educational setting to collaborate and develop various competences. As critical thinking is a very complex set of competences and is interconnected directly and indirectly with many other skills, we focused on 4 basic skills which contribute to the improvement of different aspects of critical thinking: communication, open-mind, problem-solving, and creativity.
➼ Our aim with this project was to enhance the critical thinking skills of young participants from the 5 partner countries, make them aware of the advantages of critical thinking and its applications across various fields, and promote secure non-formal learning opportunities.
➼ The primary goal of our project was to empower young participants from RO, LV, BG, MK and the CZ by boosting their critical thinking abilities. This would help them to integrate better into society, make a seamless transition from education to work, and enhance their social inclusion.
days 1-3
The group was introduced to a series of non-formal activities aimed at boosting team spirit and getting to know each other. These were designed by specialized facilitators using interactive workshops. They also got to discover more about the Erasmus+ program and the Youthpass Certification.
days 4-9
During the second phase, the activities had a focus on the topic. Interactive non-formal learning methods were used to help participants learn how to raise their awareness of the benefits of critical thinking and how to improve their competencies in analyzing the information they received. Fun was a key word that characterized the learning process. 😊
day 10
The last days of our project were dedicated to our communities. Together, we designed a dissemination plan and worked on the promotional video and website of our project to share the results back with the community. We also presented the outcome of our work to the community.
Participants worked in groups to write articles on topics that interested them. We then analyzed the articles constructively together, to ensure that we paid more attention to the content we read on the internet, and not just during the project.
Each group committed to organising a dissemination activity once they returned to their communities. The purpose of this activity was to spread the results of the project among their peers. They shared their experience and explained to their colleagues the importance of critical thinking.
